Virginia Attorney General Warns Biden ‘Refusing to Fix’ Illegal Immigrant Crisis After Foreign Nationals Arrested for Child Sex Crimes

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares on Wednesday blamed the Biden administration for “refusing to fix” the illegal immigration crisis after two illegal immigrants were arrested for sex crimes against children in the commonwealth.

The attorney general made remarks about the illegal immigration crisis following the arrest of Isauro Garcia Cruz and Renzo Mendoza Montes, who are both illegal immigrants accused of crimes against children.

Cruz (pictured above, right)  is accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department, while the Campell County Sheriff’s Department claims Montes (pictured above, left) had inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old girl.

Miyares told ABC 3 News the Biden administration presides over what has become “probably the most broken immigration system we have seen.” He explained, “There are simple steps the Biden Administration could do to help fix it,” and asserted to the outlet the White House is “refusing to fix it.”

The attorney general added that the administration’s refusal to address the problem is “leading to untold stories of human misery and tragedy.”

The arrests in Virginia and the attorney general’s response follow the nationally scrutinized murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who police said was killed on the University of Georgia campus by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.

A poll released in early March found that 78 percent of Virginia Republicans were aware of Riley’s death, while just 17 percent were unaware.

The pollsters similarly found that 77 percent of respondents would be less likely to support a political candidate who “supported weak immigration enforcement legislation,” such as sanctuary city policies, following Riley’s death.

Family members of Kayla Hamilton, a woman who police said was raped and killed by an illegal immigrant, announced plans in January to sue the Biden administration for $100 million, declaring Hamilton’s death a “catastrophic failure” in federal immigration enforcement.

“The killer had been arrested in El Salvador in 2020 for being associated with an illicit gang,” asserted attorney Brian Claypool, who represents Hamilton’s mother. He explained, “All DHS had to do was make one phone call to verify this and Kayla would be alive.”

In February, less than one month after the lawsuit was announced, reporters uncovered Department of Homeland Security (DHS) emails showing officials admit they are not tracking illegal immigrants who are released into the country by federal law enforcement.
